Jesus first gathered us as his people in Baptism, and we continue to gather around Him in worship, receiving His gifts in the Scriptures and the Lord’s Supper and responding in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. Congregational worship is the beating heart of Christ’s church. Through the church, Jesus forgives our sins, strengthens our faith, and sets us apart for a life of love for God and service to our neighbor.
Renewed by the Spirit in Baptism, we continue to grow up into Him who is our Lord (Ephesians 4:15) and put on the new life given to us (Ephesians 4:23-24). We together grow in the knowledge of the Scriptures, in daily prayer, in generosity, and in Christian love and forgiveness for one another.
Forgiven by Jesus and empowered by the Spirit, we are sent by God into the various callings He has given us. In these callings, Jesus goes with us as we show mercy to those in need and give a witness to Him with our words and lives to all those around us. As Jesus says, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
